Henry Meader, son of Christopher Pease Meader (1776-1814) [0078] and Elizabeth Doyle ( – ), was born about 1815, according to the 1860 Census [in 1807 or so according to the 1870 Census], in Baltimore, and died October 19, 1869. He was a sailor, seaman and watchman. He was discharged as a seaman, USS Anacostia, 1862.
August 6, 1856 he married Widow Jane Eliza Chauncey Keithley, born January 23, 1826 in Alexandria, VA and died October 31, 1890 in Washington, DC. According to the death record, she had lived in Washington 45 years. She ran a variety store and a confectionery store.
June 17, 1880 his widow filed for a pension, claiming he had served in the Navy from 1857 to 1860 and was with the 1859 expedition to Japan. Also, on July 18, 1890, she declared he had served as a seaman in the Civil War from March, 1861 to January, 1862.
Her children by her former husband, whom she brought with her to her new marriage, were:

Annie D. Keithley, 10 years in the 1860 Census. She was living in October, 1890, the date of her mother's will.
John Keithley, 7 years in the 1860 Census, living in 1926.
